Hilda WISEAN (1894-1982):
Bookplate sesigner, artist, calligrapher.
Hilda Wiseman received her art training in Auckland, studying life under the late Robert Procter at the Elam School of Art, and later lettering and design under John W. Ashe. She designed over 100 bookplates, most of them linocuts meticulously printed on her own small hanpress. Her favourite themes were of New Zealand birds and flowers.
