Archibald Duddington WILLIS, (18??-1908):
Bookbinder, publisher and commercial printer, A D Willis pioneered the use of lithography in New Zealand and was the most significant publisher of postcards, producing cards of quite extraordinary beauty and style to match the best anywhere in the world at that time.
The lithographic booklets listed below are illustrative of Maori life from drawings by George Sherriff and Charles Henry Kennett Watkins.
George SHERRIFF (1846 - 1930) Wanganui painter and sculptor. Born Brighton, England: Studied art at Melbourne Hurst, at the West London School of Art, and at the Slade School of Animal Painting, London. Arrived New Zealand probably c.1883 and became an early settler farmer in the Wanganui district. A founding member of the Wanganui Arts and Crafts Society.
Charles Henry Kennett WATKINS(14 July 1847 – 31 July 1933) was a New Zealand artist who was known for his New Zealand landscape paintings. He also painted scenes from the New Zealand Wars as well as of Maori life and history
